Fast-casual Mexican restaurant Solita Tacos and Margaritas, with locations in Anaheim, Huntington Beach, Long Beach and Valencia, will offer free tacos and appetizers for the month of October. It’s part of its 10th anniversary and “taco of the month” series.

How can you nab a free taco and appetizer? Visit Solita’s Taco Temple page, enter your name and email address, and score a gratis taco and appetizer. The inaugural taco for October is the barbacoa birria taco served with a side of signature red consommé.

Birria tacos, for the uninitiated, were inspired by birria, a stewed meat dish from Jalisco, Mexico. The taco – typically made of beef, onions, and cilantro all of which is accompanied by the aforementioned dipping broth — skyrocketed in popularity in the United States over the last five years after the owners of Los Angeles-based Birrieria Gonzalez posted a photo of the now-renowned dish on Instagram in 2018. Since then, the taco took off and, in one form or another, found its way onto recipe blogs across the internet, into ramen recipes, and even onto the menu at Taco Bell.

If you have yet to sample said taco, you can grab a free one all month long at Solita starting Wednesday, Oct 4. It’s part of the chain’s “taco of the month” series highlighting a different taco each month. On Oct. 10, Solita will throw a 10-year anniversary party with food deals, free tacos with purchase, and coupons for returning visits.
