The Republican Party opened a new community center in Little Saigon on Saturday, Aug. 19, ahead of the 2024 elections.

The new center, at 9550 Bolsa Ave. in Westminster, is a mile away from a similar location the national party opened in June 2021 to court Orange County’s Asian American voters. Republicans hope making greater inroads with Orange County’s AAPI voters will help them hold onto office in an increasingly blue landscape.

The center will serve as a hub for community events as well as a place to recruit and train volunteers for voter outreach.

Orange County is known to have one of the largest Vietnamese communities outside of Vietnam. Little Saigon, in which the community center is located, is the community’s hub.

And while there are more registered Democrats in the county than Republicans — and Asian Americans as a whole favor Democratic candidates — county voters’ preference for Republican candidates on the state ballot and the Republican Party’s ability to recruit candidates such as Reps. Young Kim and Michelle Steel have Republicans investing millions in non-White voting communities.

The RNC has set up nearly 40 such community centers across the nation as part of its plan to woo minority voters.
