Moving into a former Marie Callender’s space, which closed in 2019, Texas-based Dimassi’s Mediterranean Buffet, which has locations in Cerritos and throughout the Lone Star State, will bring its Mediterranean fare to Anaheim Hills.
“We are looking to open in the early part of 2024,” says Sam Khader, the owner of Dimassi’s.
Dimassi’s serves Palestinian, Jordanian, Lebanese and Greek foods at its restaurants, which are known for their buffet-style dining. While the menu for its newest location hasn’t yet been released, highlights at other locations include chicken makloube, tabouli salad, dolmas, zatar, chicken with sumac, gyros, kebabs, lemon pepper fried chicken and a slew of other savory fare.
Desserts include rice pudding with cinnamon and sugar, apricot jam cookies and namoura cakes made with semolina, coconut and yogurt
The restaurant also serves Halal-certified meats that, according to its website, are “ethically sourced and prepared, ensuring peace of mind.” Vegan and gluten-free options will also be available.
Dimassi’s serves lunch and dinner. Prices will be announced at a later date.
In 2019, the parent company of Marie Callender’s Restaurant and Bakery entered Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings, resulting in the closure of nearly half of its restaurants, including its Anaheim location. Most recently, the restaurant and bakery’s old San Juan Capistrano venue is set to become an In-N-Out.
