The Orange County girls athlete of the week:

Name: Maia Helmar

School: Newport Harbor

Sport: Flag football

Year: Junior

Noteworthy: Helmar threw four touchdown passes, intercepted a pass and recorded several tackles to lead the Sailors, ranked No. 1 in the nation by MaxPreps, to a 27-0 victory against No. 4 Corona del Mar in the Surf League. Newport Harbor improved to 22-1.
