Craig Dunn has assumed the head coaching duties of the Dana Hills girls cross country team.
Olivia Hodges resigned as the team’s coach last week. It was her first season as the team’s head coach.
Hodges declined to discuss her resignation.
Dunn has coached the Dana Hills boys program for seven seasons. He was the Orange County boys cross country coach of the year in 2020.
The school’s boys and girls cross country teams are ranked No. 1 in CIF Southern Section Division 3.
INVITATIONAL CANCELED
The Dana Hills Invitational meet has been canceled. It had been scheduled for Saturday.
Dunn said the city of Dana Point was not able to close streets and provide its usual support of the event because of the Ohana Fest series of concerts this weekend. Without that support, Dunn said, the cross country meet had to be canceled.
The cancellation was decided this past summer.
The Dana Hills Invitational has been held for 48 years.
