In the two years since Cali Coast Shutters and Shades opened for business, owner Rich Gloudeman has seen business grow “exponentially” as more people are interested in upgrading their window coverings.
“They want smart systems,” he says. “They want motorization. They want things to be able to talk to the home automation that they have already and they want it to be all integrated.”
And those options happen to be Gloudeman’s specialty.
Right now, Cali Coast Shutters and Shades is open by appointment only. (They’re currently looking into opening a showroom.) When you meet with Gloudeman, you’ll explain what systems you currently have and what you want. “If you want it all hardwired in, I’ll help you with that process,” he explains. “If you’re already done with your renovations and you want to add them in later, I’ll give you options for that.” The goal is to devise a system that works for you, whether you want a system that doesn’t require much work from you or one that you can adjust as you see fit.
Gloudeman is excited as he talks about advancements in window coverings. “We can get you something that will be wholly unique to you, that you can show off to your neighbors,” he says.
“There’s a bunch of new innovation right now,” Gloudeman adds. “It’s a great time to be buying window coverings.”
2. Orange County Shutters

3. The Blinds and Shutters Store

Since 2001, this family-owned business has been serving Orange County residents with quality blinds and shutters. In 2020, The Blinds and Shutters Store opened a second showroom in Anaheim Hills.
Customers can stop by either the Orange or Anaheim Hills show room, both of which are open daily, to check out the offerings from in-house brand Bockman’s as well as other makers. Then, make an appointment for representatives to visit your home, where they will take measurements and bring samples so that you can make a final decision based on what looks best in your window. Once your blinds or shutters are ready, they’ll handle the installation as well. Overall, the turnaround time is between two and three weeks.
